During the 2024 Healthcare Sector event, one of the most significant points of concern raised by attendees was the lack of reliable Wi-Fi access. The Solution: A Custom Wireless Network Designed for Performance
In response, the event organizers partnered with Core Connections to design and implement a high-performance wireless network solution for the 2025 event. This project began weeks before the event, with detailed consultations and planning sessions with the hosting venue’s internal IT department.

Unlike the previous year, where public and venue-shared networks created performance bottlenecks, this year’s solution began with a dedicated internet feed. The IT department at the event location provisioned a direct high-bandwidth line specifically for the event. This created a solid foundation upon which Core Connections could build a dedicated wireless network with guaranteed throughput and bandwidth allocation.
- Event-Specific Wireless Architecture
Core Connections designed and deployed a bespoke wireless network tailored to the event’s layout, expected user density, and technical requirements. This included:
- Enterprise-grade access points strategically placed to ensure comprehensive coverage across all exhibitor areas, keynote halls, breakout rooms, and high-traffic corridors.
- Load balancing to distribute user demand evenly and prevent bottlenecks during peak usage times.
- VLAN segmentation to separate public Wi-Fi users from vendors, organizers, and internal staff—ensuring both security and performance.
Enhancing Attendee Engagement: Branded Splash Page with Contact Capture
To take the wireless experience a step further, Core Connections implemented a customized captive portal splash page that greeted every Wi-Fi user upon connection. Branded to match the visual identity of the hosting organization, the splash page served a dual purpose:
- User Identification and Engagement: Attendees were asked to enter basic contact information, such as name, email, and organization, before gaining internet access. This provided the hosting company with a secure, GDPR-compliant method to collect valuable engagement data.
- Marketing and Follow-Up Opportunities: With consented user information collected, the hosting organization was empowered to follow up with attendees’ post-event for surveys, newsletters, and future event invitations—dramatically improving their ability to maintain engagement and build relationships.
Results: Seamless Connectivity and Positive Feedback
The impact of these improvements was immediate and measurable:
- Zero reported Wi-Fi outages during the event.
- Average connection speed exceeded 100 Mbps in most attendee areas, even during peak usage.
- Over 1,200 unique users connected to the network over the three-day event.
- Contact information successfully captured from 85% of users through the splash page.
- Significantly improved post-event satisfaction scores related to technology and connectivity.
Feedback from both organizers and attendees was overwhelmingly positive. For many, this year’s event was a dramatic improvement over 2024, citing the consistent access to digital content, smoother exhibitor demos, and enhanced overall experience.
